Sampo PME-42S6 42-inch
Plasma TV Review
MSRP: $5,995
Quick Take:
The Taiwanese Sampo
PME-42S6 Plasma TV makes a great budget Plasma TV for those that would
mainly use it for DVD viewing. It's weak display of broadcast signals
prevents it from receiving a higher recommendation. Pricing is usually
amongst the lowest of all 42-inch Plasma TVs, and although it is not
as capable as some other units, it's price is quite cheap and easy on
the wallet (relatively speaking of course). Note that this unit is the
same as the 42" Gateway Plasma TV. Be sure to check out the Sampo
PME-42X6 if you are interested in high definition support.
Pros:
- One of the brightest
displays in production, with brilliant color performance
- Exceptional DVD display performance - for it's price it is amongst
the best
- Shallow display; just 3.74" deep
- Built-in speakers and nice overall design appeal
- Operates very quietly - great for small rooms
Cons:
- Some pixelation
noticed in darker scenes
- Some artifacts during high-speed motion scenes
- Below average display of standard definition signals (broadcast, cable,
etc.)
